alamo drafthouse slaughterCircle C residents have been waiting patiently for the arrival of the biggest addition to far South Austin in a long time: Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane. With the addition of a new shopping center at the corner of MoPac and Slaughter comes great new options like Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Austin Diagnostic Clinic. The new movie theater and bar, however, are the crown jewel of the new center, and the doors are almost open!

The official opening date is March 22, but there is a chance to slip in the doors before (most of) the rest of Austin during their staff training days. Tickets to previously released movies are just $2, and though some are already sold out, tickets are still available for movies such as Moneyball, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Help, and Young Adult. Tickets can be purchased on the Alamo website.

Then, comes opening weekend fun! Thursday night kicks off with The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly spaghetti dinner and The Hunger Games premiere (with special menu) at midnight. Other opening week events include a Ladies of the 80s Sing along, Mad Men season premiere, and Dirty Dancing girlie night. Get your mouse pointers and credit cards ready because those tickets go on sale on March 12.

The new theater will show not only first-run films but also Alamo’s signature programming that includes innovative lineups and bizarre finds. The new location also will feature something new for Alamo, the 400 Rabbits cocktail lounge (much like The Highball, the lounge is adjacent to the theater, allowing non-movie goers to enjoy, as well). The lounge’s drink menu focuses on tequila, mescals, and sotols, while the food menu is inspired by Latin American street fare.

The new Alamo Drafthouse is going to be bigger and better, and having one of their “all seats are good seats” is ideal. For anyone looking to live near the hustle and bustle of all of this new development, Regent Property Group agents can help to find a great home in the Circle C subdivision.
